October 16, 2010. VOW's Second Annual Beyond Borders Benefit was held at the Casablanca Restaurant in Carlsbad.  

Event chair Dr. Virginia Loh-Hagan welcomed a large group of enthusiastic patrons to the restaurant for cocktails, dinner and a silent auction.  Councilmember Todd Gloria was the evening's Keynote speaker and he addressed the needs of women, especially in the refugee community in San Diego.  Catherine Filloux of Washington, DC received the Voice Award for Artistic Works, for her plays that depict human rights especially as they affect women.  Dr. Marianne McDonald received the Award of Distinction for her body of work about human rights and justice.
