On July 12, 2005. Voices of Women together with Amnesty International, IMoHR San Diego, and the Peace and Democracy Action Group of the First UU Church sponsored a reading of the compelling play "Guantanamo" at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in San Diego to a large audience.

The talented cast of 11 local actors brought to life the characters who are either imprisoned in Guantanamo, or family members of the prisoners. The injustice of inappropriate and unnecessary imprisonment was highlighted through the speeches that were taken from actual spoken evidence by the playwrights Victoria Brittain and Gillian Slovo.

Professor Marjorie Cohn of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, together with Anne Hoiberg of IMoHR and board member of Voices of Women, lead an in-depth discussion into the infringement of rights of the prisoners.
