James Goldsborough, foreign affairs columnist for the San Diego Union Tribune, did not pull his punches when it came to discussing the mistakes made by the Bush Administration. Mistakes, he said, can be worse than crime because, as in this case, the mistake of the Iraq War has cost many thousands of lives, not to mention the millions of dollars. Mr. Goldsborough stated many times that he is unabashedly a Democrat, that this Administration is repeating many historical mistakes and that we will be in dire straits if Kerry is not elected in November. Mr. Goldsborough received a standing ovation from the audience. His speech was videotaped by UCSD TV and will air throughout October, as a VOW presentation. A forum with many questions from the audience followed Mr. Goldsborough's speech.
After the presentation, the audience adjourned to the Rotunda for a reception. At this reception, $900 was raised for Save the Children and their vital work for the children in Darfur, Sudan. We are extremely grateful to our guests for their generosity.
