VOW was a co-sponsor with Eveoke Dance Theatre of this inspirational event held at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice at USD. Author of In the Time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez, spoke in depth about her research for her book based on the true story of the four Mirabal sisters who were brutally murdered in the Dominican Republic at the order of President Trujillo. The sisters were members of the underground plot to oust Trujillo. Eveoke Dance Theatre presented a portion of the beautiful and haunting dance they choreographed to honor the occasion. The auditorium at the IPJ was filled to capacity.
