The performance piece tells the story of two women, one Israeli (Ms. Baum) and one Palestinian, who meet at UC Davis, and after trust develops between them, begin to unfold the stories of the wars that have affected both their countries. In her spell-binding performance, Ms. Baum weaves the stories of mothers, grandmothers and the women themselves as young girls, sleeping in a shelter, being terrified by soldiers and explosions. The finale of the piece is a plea by Ms. Baum for peace among warring factions.
Voices of Women collected $200.00 in donations from patrons for The Parents' Circle, a New York based organization dedicated to education on the need for dialogue between Israel and Palestine.
