Sifa Children Sing and Dance for a Delighted Audience

Sixty enthusiastic VOW supporters and friends applauded the 15-member Sifa Children's Choir who performed at the East African Culture & Community Center in City Heights.  The children are former orphans from Uganda who are touring California for 6 months raising funds to help other orphaned children in their country to get a home, and an education.  The children in the choir range in age from 6 to 15.  They sang in English and Swahili.  The word sifa in Swahili means "praise."  Throughout the 45-minute program, a few of the children gave testimonials about Sifa and what the organization has done for their lives. The founder of Sifa, Pastor Michael Mwonge and his wife Esther spoke to the audience of the need for funds to build orphanages.  Pastor Michael sold his home in Uganda to fund the California tour.  The event came to a rousing close when the children danced and sang with audience members. $1500 was raised at the event.
